UNISON Learning & Organising Services

This is the national website for the LAOS, the national department which oversees the provision of activists and membership education in UNISON.

The site contains: UNISON's national training programme for activists, advice and guidance, relevant policies, resources, news items and the application form for national bursaries.

Unionlearn/TUC

This is the national website for Unionlearn the educational arm of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to which UNISON is affiliated.

It provides information on a wide range of training courses for workplace representatives and union professionals, and information on the framework for union course qualifications.

As well as links to all the course programmes provided by TUC authorised Centres in the UK. In addition there is a full range of on-line courses.

The TUC bursaries application is also located on this site.

UNISON West Midlands Region has a close working relationship with the Midlands Region TUC, and many of the courses in our Activist Programme are delivered by TUC tutors.

UNISON and The Open University

The Open University that was launched in 1969 is the biggest provider of distance learning in the world. Constantly at the forefront of innovative teaching and learning methods it helps people to achieve their career and life goals at times and in places to suit them.

UNISON has been working in partnership with the Open University since 1997 and we have developed a number of joint initiatives during this time. The dedicated website gives members all the information they need about the unique ways in which both organisations work together.

The Workers Education Association (WEA)

This is the site for the West Midlands WEA. The site contains information, news and details of the courses it provides. These cover a wide range of subject and topic areas aimed at personal development. They are provided in many venues across the West Midlands.

UNISON West Midlands Region has a close working relationship with the West Midlands WEA. Tutors from the WEA deliver many of the courses in our Membership Programme.
